Is Canada Open for Justice?

Amnesty Canada is deeply committed to justice for the people and communities harmed by overseas Canadian oil, gas and mining operations. Open For Justice is Amnesty Canada’s exciting new campaign to ensure people whose rights have been violated by Canadian companies have the right to seek justice in Canada for the harms they have experienced. Indigenous peoples, environmental activists and human rights defenders in countries such as Colombia or Guatemala currently have little chance of seeking justice in Canada if their rights have been harmed by powerful Canadian companies or their subsidiaries.

Let’s work together to change that! Throughout 2014, Amnesty Canada’s Business and Human Rights team will invite AI members to join strategic actions aimed at achieving our goals. During the week of February 17-21, we will join coalition partners across the country to call on Canadian MPs to pledge their support for the Open for Justice campaign.

Join Amnesty International Business and Human Rights Campaigners Fiona Koza and Tara Scurr on January 22 to learn the ins and outs of this campaign, as well as how to influence your MP to take the pledge. 4 to 5 pm.Space is limited. Reserve your Webinar seat now at: After registering you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the Webinar.
