On Sunday, April 13, 7 p.m.
Unitarian Church of Vancouver
In his presentation, about support by Israelis for the Palestinian popular struggle, Kobi will review a decade of Israeli involvement in the Palestinian popular struggle (including nonviolent demonstrations side-by-side with villagers confronting the Wall and settlements) and half a decade of BDS support from Inside Israel (despite Israeli legislation making advocates of BDS subject to lawsuits by companies that anticipate possible future financial damage as a result).
Kobi points out that, “These efforts have historical roots which not coincidentally are largely unknown. As it isolates itself from a world increasingly critical of its destruction of Palestinian society, Israel also isolates itself from significant parts of Jewish history. These historical movements, from the Bund to Matzpen, are worth keeping in mind for those who are reevaluating their position on Israel as well as for those who are committed to resisting it.”
The hat will be passed, with funds collected going to a popular committee in Beit Ummar, one of the villages where Kobi regularly participates in demonstrations.
Cosponsored by Independent Jewish Voices-Vancouver and the Social Justice Committee of the Unitarian Church of Vancouver.
