BC has a legal obligation to respect children’s rights as enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, specifically Articles 3, 6, 18, 19, 24, 27,and 31, as well as a 2006 Supreme Court of Canada decision.

The BCTF Executive Committee recently passed a motion “to achieve government policy that guarantees that there will be no clawback of child support from parents on income assistance” including “encouraging social justice contacts to lobby their MLAs before the 2015 budget announcement.”
